Medical Care & Disaster Recover on Wheels

BCFS Health and Human Services’ Mobile Medical Unit, or MMU, is a state-of-the-art medical clinic on-wheels that brings life-saving care to remote, impoverished neighborhoods and areas affected by disaster.

Rehabilitate firefighters and other first responders

  • Individual O2 therapy and rehab stations
  • Circulatory cooling system utilizes a lightweight vest through which cold water is circulated

Triage disaster survivors and first responders with mobile technology

  • Wireless vital sign monitoring system to conduct an electrocardiogram (EKG) on patients outside the MMU within a 30-foot radius
  • Vital signs are transmitted to a laptop or tablet inside where a nurse or doctor can monitor heart rate, blood oxygen level and blood pressure

Evacuate hospitals, nursing homes and high rises

  • Evacuees in wheelchairs, neonatal “isolettes,” and patients in hospital beds can be rolled in on a large ramp and locked into “E-tracks” in the floor for safe transport

Mobile Neonatal Intensive Care Unit(NICU)

  • Capable of comprehensive care for expectant mothers – from normal prenatal checkups, to high-risk pregnancies, to emergency labor and delivery, and NICU necessities
  • Complete medical exam room including an ultra sound machine and fetal non-stress test machine

  • Motor Vehicle Extrication
  • Search and Rescue
  • HazMat Incident
  • High Angle Rescue
  • Structural Collapse
